Maintenance Mindset vs. Mission Mindset
What's the Difference?
Archbishop Pérez is asking every Catholic and every parish to work with him to create a culture of missionary discipleship in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. This is a strong call to all of us to undergo a conversion of mind, heart and behavior: to move out of the “maintenance” mindset, which tends toward spiritual complacency and a business as usual attitude, and into an apostolic mission mindset, one which is fully awake to the reality that society has lost its sense of God and is therefore in a dire situation requiring our urgent response.
But what’s the difference between the maintenance mindset and the mission mindset? What does this conversion to mission actually look like in the day-to-day life of a Catholic and a parish? Click the link below to find practical examples that show the difference:

After almost 14 years leading the Archdiocesan Secretariat for Evangelization, Auxiliary Bishop John McIntyre is "passing the baton" of oversight to newly-ordained Auxiliary Bishop Efren Esmilla. Meghan Cokeley, Paola Herrera and the other members of the Office for the New Evangelization team would like to offer our heartfelt thanks to Bishop McIntyre for his kindness and support over the years. We also welcome our new shepherd, Bishop Esmilla, and look forward to working with him to draw as many souls as possible to Jesus Christ in the Heart of His Church!

The most fundamental need of the human heart is to be seen, known, and loved by another person. This puts interpersonal connection and the ability to build healthy relationships at the heart of our mission to accompany others into friendship with God. Christ in the City is a Catholic apostolate that offers young adults an in-depth Catholic and human formation and sends them out to build transformative friendships with homeless men and women living on our city streets. At this workshop, Christ in the City will train us in the relationships-based ministry skills that they have learned from their experience on the streets. These skills are applicable everywhere: in your marriage, with your children and in your parish or neighborhood. Adults of all ages and mission fields are welcome.
