Jubilee 2025: Pilgrims of Hope
On December 24, 2024, Pope Francis opened the Holy Door at St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. This commences a yearlong celebration of a holy year, the Jubilee of Hope.

Event: Opening Mass of the Jubilee Year, Pilgrims of Hope on the Feast of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph
All are invited to come as pilgrims of hope and then return with the message of the Jubilee year to spread throughout the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. Before Mass, all will gather in Sister Cities Park across the street from the main entrance to the Cathedral Basilica. A ceremonial cross will lead the “Pilgrims of Hope” to the main entrance of the Cathedral Basilica at which point the Archbishop will invite all to venerate it. This is followed by a commemoration of Baptism. The ceremonial cross will be placed in the Cathedral Basilica all throughout the Jubilee Year.

Event: The Institute for Christian Formation presents "Foundations of the Catholic Faith: A Journey Through the Catechism"
The Institute for Christian Formation (ICF) at the School of Theological Studies (STS) at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary seeks to provide participants with an opportunity to enhance their understanding of Catholic doctrine as found in the “Catechism of the Catholic Church” and is an invitation to ongoing conversion of heart in the company of brothers and sisters sharing a desire to grow in faith. Event: How the Share the Kerygma: Catechist Training
“Kerygma” is the Greek word that the Church uses to refer to the proclamation of the core message of the Gospel. This core proclamation has its own power to change hearts and win souls for Jesus Christ. In recent years, the Church is asking us to recover the kerygma and put it once again at the center of catechesis. During this training, catechists will learn simple tools for proclaiming the kerygma in their classrooms, creating the conditions for students to have a personal encounter with the living Jesus.

All are invited to join a seven-week Lenten experience known as Discovering Christ hosted by St. Rose of Lima Parish. This series has helped many come into a deep, meaningful encounter with Jesus and, for others, a deeper, personal relationship with Him. Discovering Christ is for anyone and everyone, from the baptized in the pews to the unbaptized person who has never entered a church. Every missionary disciple needs to be equipped with skills that will help us more intentionally accompany others into personal friendship with Jesus. One of those skills is the readiness to pray spontaneously with someone for their needs and intentions. Instead of saying, “I’ll pray for you,” we want to be ready to say, “Can I pray with you right now for that?” Join us for a training that will teach you this skill and give you a greater comfort level with praying with others.

Join us at St. Margaret of Antioch parish’s (Narberth) Bereavement Support Group. It is Christ-centered and rooted in Catholic tradition, conveying God’s consolation through scripture, prayer, reflection, and sharing our faith. It is for people grieving the loss of a loved one, no matter how long ago. Many have also lost loved ones during and since the pandemic. This group will help people share the journey of sorrow, process grief, and grow spiritually. The group will run for 6 weeks (every other week) from 7-8:30 pm in the in the parish Annex. The cost is $8 for the Participant Journal, paid at the first session. The group facilitator is a registered nurse who was previously the Bereavement Ministry Director at the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.

This day camp is open to all 6, 7, and 8 grade young men and will include a day of activities, sports, dynamic talks, prayer, and fellowship with the Philadelphia Seminarians.
