Events: Philly Adoration for Vocations
Catholics from across the Archdiocese of Philadelphia are invited to spend time before our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament praying for vocations at Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary. This is a time to pray in front of Jesus truly present in the Eucharist and to ask Him to bless His Church with many holy vocations. Each Thursday between 9 am and 4 pm, clergy and lay faithful of the Archdiocese are encouraged to pray for an increase in vocations to the priesthood and religious life and that those who the Lord is calling will have the courage to respond.

What is Tenebrae? Tenebrae (Latin for “darkness”) is a prayer service with spiritual readings and songs. With contrast between the darkness of Christ's suffering and death and the brilliance of Easter glory & light, candles are gradually extinguished and a symbolic representation of the earthquake that followed Christ’s death. The Christ candle is brought to the altar, signifying the return of Christ to the world in His Resurrection.” This meditation on Christ's suffering consists of readings, contemplative music and the power of silence, darkness and drums, suggesting the drama of this momentous day.
