The Kensington neighborhood faces deep struggles—poverty, addiction, isolation—but it is also a place of resilience, hope, and beloved community. As missionary disciples, we are called to go to the margins, to accompany our brothers and sisters, and to be instruments of God’s healing love.
The Community Center at Visitation is a division of Catholic Charities of Philadelphia. We are seeking food donations and volunteers to accompany and uplift those on the margins.

We welcome Mary Bea D'Amico from Malvern Retreat House as she speaks about the inspiration of the Holy Spirit who tugged at her heart to establish a Shrine to Blessed Carlo Acutis. Upon his beatification, scheduled for September 7th, he will be known as SAINT Carlo Acutis! Join us in our Fr. John Hughes Building, Msgr. McGettigan Hall, to hear of the amazing blessing which has become the Shrine of Carlo Acutis and how it has welcomed thousands to hear of his amazing life of virtue which led to the canonization of the first millennial saint!

Participants will gain insights into the essential roles within the initiation process, strategies for team formation, and best practices for accompanying catechumens and candidates on their journey of faith. Join us as we reflect on how to form a dynamic team that fosters authentic conversion and discipleship!

Dr. Joseph Meaney from the National Catholic Bioethics Center will present on several topics relevant to the end of life including the value of human life, preparation for eternal life, ordinary and extraordinary means of care, palliative sedation, hospice care, medical proxy, and others. He will also discuss physician assisted suicide as this is becoming a more important topic for our nation. Mrs. Susan Middleton from Thinkhope.org will talk about the value of suffering and the Red Rosary of Hope ministry. This is a free event (donations are welcome).
