Are you ready for them at Easter?
Many inactive Catholics will be in your pews…
Many of us spend a lot of time (and prayer!) thinking about how to help inactive Catholics reconnect with their faith. At Easter Mass, many of those inactive Catholics will be in your pews! What small things might you do before and after Mass to "cast your net" and try to connect with those who have not been to Mass in awhile? Remember, you don't need to convert anyone on the spot, what you need is simply the beginning of a relationship, a first connection. For example, collect email addresses for personal follow-up, issue an invitation to a relevant event at the parish a week or so after Easter, hand out a good book that can help someone start asking questions about God. Ask the Holy Spirit, "How do you want our parish to extend a hand to those in our Easter pews who need You?" Be on the lookout for His response! 6ABC to Air St. Katharine Drexel Documentary
“Saint Katharine Drexel: The Holy Heiress,” a 30-minute documentary on the life and work of Saint Katharine Drexel, will air at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 30th, on 6ABC. The program is a special presentation of 6ABC’s FYI Philly. Click here for more details.“The Holy Heiress” presents Saint Katharine Drexel, from her early years growing up in Philadelphia, to her religious life dedicated to serving the needs of African Americans and Native Americans, and how she became a saint. It also tells of the translation and installation last year of her sacred remains to a newly constructed tomb at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul.

Evangelizing in Nursing Homes
We recently received a letter from a man named Adolf, drawing our attention to the great evangelization mission field in our nursing homes. Here's what he shared:"Some Catholics in nursing homes are cut-off from participating in their faith. Many churches provide periodic visits to bring Communion to the nursing homes of which they are aware, but with the proliferation of care facilities, some are overlooked. Also, perhaps we forget that “old folks,” like myself, need spiritual attention, especially fallen-away Catholics who are grasping for a last chance at salvation. ...With the shortage of priests, we speak about “empowering the laity,” and this badly needed Ministry is a perfect fit. ...in the current world and national anti-life climate, respect for the end of life must be heightened. If we can get just one more Communion received, that would not otherwise have been received, it will be worth every minute of our time..." ~Adolf S.

Male juniors and seniors in high school are invited to apply for the 2019 Philadelphia Catholic Scholars Program: "Truth, Beauty, Goodness." The PCSP is a residential, college-accredited program gathering young men for a rich spiritual and intellectual journey studying the great texts and ideas of western civilization. Taught by seminary and university faculty on the grounds of St. Charles Borromeo Seminary. Applications accepted on a rolling basis, available online.
